Amateur dancers from across Warwickshire and Worcestershire take to the stage for charity

AMATEUR dancers from across Worcestershire and Warwickshire raised £2,000 for charity at their annual Gala event.

Forty-three dancers took to the stage, ranging in age from their 30s to their 80s.

The dancers all attend dance classes for adults with Helena Jane Classes and Coaching. They performed a number of routines in ballet, tap and theatre dance styles, set to music from the movies, at the event at The Greig Hall in Alcester on Saturday June 7.

Some of the dancers had previous performing experience, but for many it was their first time on stage.

The dance Gala, which also featured Oscars themed decorations, guest performances and a charity raffle, was held in aid of two charities – Wonder Wards (supporting life-limited children and their families) and Warwickshire Hedgehog Rescue.

The charities were voted for by members of the dance classes.

Organiser Helena Mitchell said: “I’m overwhelmed with the support for this year’s Gala. The dancers put on a fabulous show and we smashed our fundraising target. Thank you so much to everyone involved.”
