A ROMANCE of the heart and a passion for baking is the impetus behind the opening of a new independent hospitality business in the centre of Evesham.
Nostalgia, opened in High Street last month to a warm welcome by customers who appreciate the transformation of the former Oxfam shop into a family-run business that specialises in serving coffee and cakes by day, and wine and charcuterie by night.
At the helm of this stylish eatery are Lucyna Krol and soon-to-be daughter in law, Klaudia Zajaczkowska who have achieved their dream to share a love of good food and wine with discerning clients.
Lucyna has lived in Evesham for 20 years and has more than a decade of experience in the hospitality trade.
Klaudia has a long-standing love for baking and together the pair decided to offer something a bit different to the usual high street offer.
“I love baking, Lucyna has worked in hospitality for a long time and we wanted to create a nice, welcoming place for people as that’s what we feel has been missing in Evesham,” said Klaudia.
The pair sell homemade cakes that Klaudia bakes daily, taking traditional British and Polish recipes and adding her own modern twist. The menu is seasonal with an emphasis on using local suppliers. And so far the feedback has been promising.
“We are very grateful that people are saying they really enjoy being at Nostalgia. People have commented on the interior decoration and say the food is great.
“We have been very busy so we are really happy about that,” she said.
Originally from Poland, Klaudia met fiance Eryk online and moved to Cardiff where he was studying to be together.
After she completed a psychology degree last year the pair decided to move back to Evesham to be closer to his family. The pair plan on getting married in September.
Reflecting on this new chapter in her life Klaudia added: “Now I am in business with Lucyna and probably wouldn’t be here owning a coffee shop if we hadn’t fallen in love and decided to move to Evesham.”
