GOLF - Vale Golf Club host seniors team open event

THE Vale Golf Club hosted their seniors team open event with 31 clubs from across the Midlands represented.

Some 124 players took to the course with the likes of Hagley, Cotswold Hills, Sutton Coldfield, Puckrup Hall, Cleobury Mortimer and Worcester Golf and Country Club all present.

The format comprised of a four-ball better ball stableford competition with two scores to count played on the Vale’s 18-hole international course.

Local car dealership, PJ Nicholls Ltd, sponsored the event while a raffle raised £638 towards the Evesham and District Meeting Centre charity.

Lilleshall Hall Golf Club foursome Andrew Watson, Jonathan Rowe, Garth Tozer and Jim Syncox won the event.

The Vale and Worcester combination of Ian Macrae, Andy Vale, David Kent and Earle Andrews finished second.




And the Cotswold Hills contingent of Chris Kerridge, Geoff Mace, Mark Butler and Robin Leach claimed third place.

Further back, the Vale’s Peter Azizi, Will Reading, Nigel Smith and Alistair Rowley placed fourth.


And Graham Lloyd, Eric Rookledge, Andrew Chambers and Dave Jones from Leominster Golf Club finished fifth.

Handsworth’s Phil Murphy produced the shot closest to the pin on hole five while the Vale’s Rob Sharp was closest to the pin in two shots on the 17th hole.

Some 19 players won the two’s competition while the Vale’s Peter Richards won the raffle.
