PERSHORE RFC have reached the final of the Papa John’s National Plate following a 40-20 victory against Meden Vale.

Pershore booked their place in the final with a fine win at Piddle Park after previous triumphs against Bedford Queens and Sileby Vikings.

The home side had to come from behind after conceding two early tries to trail by 12 points.

However, Cameron Wood dotted down Pershore’s first try as Ben Crouch kicked the conversion.

The two teams then exchanged a penalty apiece before Harry Westby to score a well-worked try as Crouch’s conversion put Pershore ahead.

Another Crouch penalty extended Pershore’s advantage before Wood barged his way through several tackles to score under the posts.

And Crouch’s successful conversion sent Pershore into the break with a 12-point lead.

Further tries from Martin Hope and Tom Westby, along with a Crouch penalty, took the game out of Meden Vale’s reach.

The visitors grabbed a consolation try but it proved too little too late as Pershore confirmed their place in the final.

Pershore will play Wheatley Hills in the final at Doncaster’s Castle Park ground on Saturday, May 17 with kick-off at 11am.
