INVESTMENT to create a brand-new 3G pitch at a school in Evesham has been hailed as ‘fantastic’ for the future of sport by the town’s MP.

Nigel Huddleston MP has visited Prince Henry’s High School to preview the school’s new sports facility.

The 3G pitch opening will take place today (Friday, May 16) at 12 noon.

The pitch, representing a £1.05 million investment in local sports infrastructure, has been made possible through a £750,000 grant from the Premier League, The FA, and the Government’s Football Foundation.

Wychavon District Council has also contributed £300,000 towards the facility.

The new facility is set to deliver significant benefits to both the students of Prince Henry’s and the wider Vale of Evesham community.

It will support local clubs, grassroots football, and promote health and wellbeing through increased access to high-quality sports provision.

Mr Huddleston visited the school to view the pitch and meet with staff ahead of today’s ceremony.

Representatives from the Football Foundation, Worcestershire FA, Wychavon District Council, partner clubs, construction contractors, and local players will be celebrating this important addition to local sporting facilities at the grand opening today.

Nigel Huddleston MP said: “This is a fantastic investment in the future of sport and health in Evesham.

“I’m very much looking forward to the pitch officially opening and seeing the positive impact it will have on the school and the wider community.”

Following the ceremony, a buffet lunch will be held in the school’s Conference Centre to thank all those who contributed to bringing the project to life.
