A NEW luxury glamping venture near Evesham has celebrated its opening with a unique tea ceremony attended by a Japanese dignitary.

Orchard Blossom in Cropthorne, welcomed Keisaku Sandy Sano, chairman of Japan Matsuri – a festival of Japanese food and culture – for refreshments whilst he was on a visit to the Vale.

The event featured a twist on the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, blending it with an English afternoon tea served in fine china tea cups.

Mr Sano, who is also head of the Sakura Cherry Tree Project which plants cherry trees throughout the UK in recognition of Japan-UK friendship and cooperation, had previously stopped by The Valley retail centre, with a gift of 15 cherry trees.

Helen Christopher, owner of the four-acre tranquil site expressed her optimism about the new venture which she has started with partner Andy on land bequeathed by her late father.

“I love this area and am thrilled to contribute to inbound tourism by attracting city dwellers looking for a digital detox and a chance to unwind in our stargazing bell tents with transparent roof panels,” she said.

Independent district councillor for Harvington and Norton, Craig Reeves added: “Orchard Blossom is a fabulous and unique addition to our travel and tourism offering here in the Vale.

“Helen’s outstanding vision and dedication frames perfectly the beauty of what we have to attract visitors.

“I wish her and her team every success.”
