A FLEDGLING Evesham event that was on the verge of being cancelled will go ahead, the organiser has said.

The future of the free-to-attend Evesham Pagan Festival was hanging in the balance due to a lack of participating stall holders but thanks to a story by the Observer, it can be confirmed that June 21 celebration is firmly in the calendar.

“After sending out a call for more traders, and with the help of the Observer, we had an influx of people coming forward to take part.

“It’s amazing that this event can now go ahead, and we’d like to thank the paper and all the people who shared our advertisement, for making it happen,” Sue Smith said.

She told the Observer that some of the ‘unique’ stalls now attending included a herbalist, a woman who stitches magic into her embroidery, a huge crystal stand and many more ‘pagan, witchy and spiritual’ traders.

“We have some fantastic speakers on the day, including several authors and a world renowned astrologer. We also have the local Morris Men taking part in the square at 3pm,” added Sue and clarified that it wasn’t necessary to be pagan to attend. “Everyone is welcome.”

The event, which was first held in 2024, takes place from 10am to 5pm on June 21 – the summer solstice – with speakers in the town hall and stalls around Market Square and Bridge Street.
