EVESHAM United lost top spot after slipping to a 1-0 defeat against 10-man Bishops Cleeve in their penultimate game of the season.
The Robins went into the game top of the table ahead of title rivals Yate Town on goal difference.
Just two goals separated Evesham and Yate at the top of the Southern League Division One South standings.
However, Yate’s 3-0 victory at Bristol Manor Farm wiped out Evesham’s two-goal advantage.
And Evesham’s failure to win means Yate now have a three-point lead at the top of the table and a superior goal difference by two goals.
The Robins took on a Bishops Cleeve side who knew a win would secure their place in the play-offs.
Bishops Cleeve had Will Turner sent off on 86 minutes after he received a second yellow card for a strong challenge on Evesham’s Jordy N’Gathe.
However, the home side won a penalty deep into injury time following a coming together in the box.
And Ross Langworthy kept his cool from the spot to send Alex Harris the wrong way, placing his penalty into the bottom left corner of the goal.
The defeat also brings an end to Evesham’s 10-game unbeaten run dating back to mid-February.
The Robins must now win on the final day of the season and also hope Yate lose at home to Didcot Town to have any chance of lifting the title.
Evesham finish the season with a home game against Bashley on Saturday, April 26 with kick-off at 3pm at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium.
