A VILLAGE school founded in 1864 is celebrating joining a multi-academy trust that already supports schools in the Vale.

Church Lench CE First School officially joined the Bengeworth Multi Academy Trust on April 1, following approval from the Department for Education.

The trust already encompasses Bengeworth CE Academy in Evesham and Bretforton Village School, and is under the leadership of CEO David Coache.

Head teacher Sam Price told the Observer: “It’s a very exciting time for us to join with other local schools to be part of a bigger team that can offer our children more opportunities and experiences.

“It will be great for our school staff team to work alongside other colleagues and share outstanding practice to benefit everyone in the trust.”

She said that its 75 pupils would benefit from meeting other pupils across the trust and working together on joint eco and community projects.

Meanwhile, staff would have wider opportunities to develop and share teaching methods with the other schools and learn techniques to enhance their practice.

“Church Lench CE First School is highly regarded by parents and has provided a consistently exceptional standard of education for pupils and families living in and around the village.

“They will continue to enjoy the offer of their excellent local school as they have always known it, and for the wider community of Evesham, there is a strong group of schools working together to create a bright future for all of our children,” David Coache added.

Church Lench CE First School will continue to receive ongoing support from the Diocese of Worcester as a Church of England school.

All three schools are currently rated as “good” by Ofsted.
