LEVI Steele scored a quickfire brace to keep Evesham United’s title hopes alive with a 2-1 victory away at Falmouth Town.
Steele struck twice in the space of three minutes in the first half before Rubin Wilson halved the deficit for the home side at Bickland Park.
And the result means Evesham sit second in the Southern League Division One South table, five points behind leaders Yate Town.
The Robins broke the deadlock on 22 minutes when Steele looped a header over Falmouth goalkeeper Morgan Coxhead via the underside of the crossbar.
And Evesham struck again three minutes later after United won a penalty and Steele fired the resulting spot kick into the bottom left corner.
However, Falmouth responded on 34 minutes as Wilson scored a penalty of his own.
Evesham are next in action against Cribbs on Saturday, March 22 with kick-off at 3pm at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium.
