POLICE representatives and the community turned out in force on Thursday (February 27) to pay tribute to a long-serving West Mercia officer who passed away in January.
PC Danian Roleston-Lowe passed away on January 31 this year and was remembered at an afternoon service at Pershore Abbey earlier this week.
The officer served on the force for more than 28 years and was based at the Hindlip headquarters in Worcester. The Malvern native was a resident of Pershore.
His service was conducted by Pershore Abbey curate Rev Jayne Parker and lead chaplain Rev Dick Johnson alongside West Mercia Police organist, Mrs Sheila Joynes.

As the coffin entered the Abbey, officers lined up outside to pay their respects whilst Sweet Child O’ Mine was performed by The Piano Guys inside.
Eulogies, readings and music for reflection were shared for attendees in celebration of the officer ahead of prayers and hymns.
As the coffin departed Pershore Abbey following the service, You’ll Never Walk Alone, Liverpool Football Club’s anthem, was played by organist Sheila Joynes.
Following his passing, heartfelt tributes to the officer poured in. West Mercia Police Federation branch chair, Steve Butler said: “News of Dane’s death has come as a huge shock to us all.
“This is such sad, tragic news, and I know this will be an incredibly difficult time for everyone who knew Dane. Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, friends and colleagues.
“Please know that there are support networks in place for any of our members at this time.”
The Force has also paid tribute to Dane and announced that flags across West Mercia Police were flying at half-mast as a sign of respect.
Other tributes from those who knew Dane described him as a ‘gentle giant with a wicked sense of humour’ who was a ‘pleasure to know and work with’.
Many fond memories of times spent with Dane were shared as those paying tribute on social media shared their condolences with his family and close friends.
Dane’s family expressed their heartfelt thanks to all those who attended the service on Thursday and for the many cards and kind words of sympathy and support they have received.
A chance to share memories of Dane over refreshments was hosted at The Banking Hall, 5 High Street in Pershore after the service.
