An Evesham town councillor has been given a £299 fine and ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work after pleading guilty to a public order offence.
John Campbell-Muir, aged 60 of Woodlands, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Monday, February 3, charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words and/or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress following an incident at Worcester Police Station on April 16, 2024.
Campbell-Muir is currently on unconditional bail to appear at Worcester Magistrates Court on April 28, 2025, after pleading not guilty to a similar public order offence in a case adjourned on December 5.
He stands accused of threatening another councillor, Tim Haines with “unlawful violence” during an incident in Oat Street, Evesham on May 20 2024.
Campbell-Muir has been a serving member of the council for nearly two years representing south ward and has lived in the town for nearly 25 years.
Last year he stood as an Independent candidate for Evesham North in the county council elections.
