TO CELEBRATE the 200th anniversary of the very first passenger railway, the armed forces, emergency service workers and school-goers are being offered the chance to experience the power and engineering marvels of steam locomotives for free in Evesham.
Valley Railway Adventure are offering those with Defence Privilege cards, Blue Light cards or school IDs the opportunity to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the world’s first passenger train.
The celebrations are part of Railway 200, a nationwide program of events and activities commemorating the historic milestone.
Valley Railway Adventure joined the national fanfare by participating in the Whistle Up on New Year’s Day, where trains across heritage railways blew their whistles in unison to signal the start of the celebrations across the UK.
Throughout 2025, the UK will come alive with celebrations highlighting the transformative impact of railways on our lives. Valley Railway Adventure is proud to be a part of the national tribute.
The heritage railway in Evesham will now be offering free entry to celebrate Railway 200 across two weekends in January and one in February.
On January 18 and 19 it will be Blue Light weekend. On January 25 and 26 it will be Armed Forces Weekend. And on February 1 and 2 it will be School Employees weekend.
