Police's VR visit to Evesham's Ourside Youth Club to warn about the dangers of knife crime

A WEST Mercia Police officer visited a youth club in Evesham to provide an insight into the dangers of knife crime.

PC Roissetter visited the Ourside Youth Club where some of the young people took part in a virtual reality knife workshop, thanks to a virtual reality (VR) headset and a game relating to making decisions on knife crime.

The workshop was very educational and the young people who attended seemed to take away a lot of information about knife crime and the dangers of carrying knives.

The staff at the Ourside Youth Club also made some Christmas baps for the young people which were a big hit.

The police said the staff at the youth club did an amazing job at providing a safe place for young people to hang out and provide lots of opportunities for all the young people, including amazing workshops and activities.

The staff work hard to build great rapports and relationships built on trust and mutual respect with the young people, working with more than 100 young people aged 11 to 19 each week who choose to attend.

If and when challenging or inappropriate behaviours occur, youth workers are able to and will ask young people to take a break or a longer ban if necessary, informing both the young people and parents as to why.

The youth workers encourage parents and families time come and find out what goes on there.

West Mercia Police said: “Thank you to Ourside Youth Club for inviting PC Roissetter along – she cannot praise the staff enough for what they do.”
