Winter programme for children across Worcestershire returns this winter

THE HOLIDAY Activities and Food (HAF) programme is returning across Worcestershire for the winter holiday.

Thousands of children are invited to attend up to four days worth of holiday clubs over the winter holiday period.

Funded by the Department for Education, it is aimed at children and young people from reception to year 11 who can access free school meals and children with additional vulnerabilities may also be eligible.

The programme aims to bridge the gap for families struggling, by offering activities and nutritious meals to eligible children.

This winter, it offers free tickets to Redditch United’s home game against Lowestoft Town on January 4.

Families of four, with two children eligible for HAF, can attend this game for free and get a meal voucher to enjoy with the game as well.

An ice-skating trip on December 23 and an inflatable assault course adventure December 30 organised by Malvern Cube is also available.

Pantomime trips in both Worcester and Evesham. Worcester Theatres and YSS Worcestershire Young Carers are taking children and young people to the Swan Theatre in Worcester for a screening of Aladdin on January 3.

Similarly, PAL fitness is taking those booked in Evesham to the pantomime to see Sleeping Beauty.

Councillor Steve Mackay, cabinet member with responsibility for children and families said: “The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme continues to make a real difference for families across Worcestershire. It’s fantastic to see such a wide range of enriching activities and experiences on offer this winter, alongside nutritious meals that help support children’s well-being during the holiday period.

“I encourage all eligible families to explore the programme and take advantage of this incredible opportunity to keep children active, engaged, and supported over the winter break.”
