Evesham Editorial 4th Dec, 2024   0

A WRITING group in Evesham are celebrating the release of one of its members’ latest novels.

Nicky Stratton, has recently had the third book in her series of ‘cosy crime novels’ published to the delight of her fellow Ellenden Writing Group members.

Nicky’s latest in the series, The Case of the Missing Pug, features Lady Laura Boxford who lives in the up-market retirement complex of Wellworth Lawns, formerly Laura’s family home, Chipping Wellworth Manor.

When she faced bankruptcy it was thanks to the intervention of her granddaughter’s husband Vince Outhwaite, the Leeds underwear magnate enabling her to stay on when he bought the house and had it converted.

In this latest story, Laura’s beloved pug Parker goes missing.

She and her friends set out on a desperate quest to find him. As the plot thickens a series of chilling events unfold and they find themselves mixed up in an unscrupulous world where pets become currency in unexpected and sometimes shocking ways.

As with the previous Laura Boxford mysteries, humour lightens the story throughout with twists and turns on every page.

After retiring from copywriting Nicky enrolled in the Open University, five years later gaining a 2.1 in Humanities.

Her writing career began in earnest and when her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease Nicky was determined to paint a positive and amusing picture to one’s twilight years with the creation of the Laura Boxford cosy crime mysteries.

The Case of the Missing Pug is out now and available on Amazon.

Fans of the series or those intrigued by Lady Laura Boxford’s tale can meet Nicky at Ellenden Farmshop in Harvington from 2.30pm next Saturday (December 14).
