HO Ho Ho – Santa Claus is coming to town…
Yes, the countdown to Christmas has well and truly begun with the return of the Santa sleigh which has been visiting the streets of Evesham for more than 40 years.
As ever, Santa is ably assisted by a team of volunteer elves from local groups, clubs and charities co-ordinated by Vale of Evesham Round Table.
Last year’s efforts raised an astonishing £9,705 for local good causes. This was only made possible with the help of Evesham and Badsey Hockey Club, Hampton Scouts, Harvington First School and Evesham Sea Cadets to name but a few of the organisations that turned out in force over several evenings.
This year Father Christmas will be making stops throughout the town and in Broadway, Offenham, Hampton and Bengeworth from November 29 to December 20.
He will start his tour of Evesham this Friday, November 29 when the sleigh and its helpers will be travelling down Elm Road and Lavender Fields. Then on Saturday, November 30, he will be in Charity Crescent.
Santa will begin the week on Monday, December 2 at Green Hill, and on Tuesday, December 3 he will be going along Broadway Road.
The next day on Wednesday, December 4 Santa will be found on Offenham Road followed by Falkland Road on Thursday, December 5.
Over the weekend of Saturday, December 7, and Sunday, December 8, Father Christmas will be joining forces with Evesham-based charity Claus for a Cause and heading to Broadway and Offenham respectively.
On Monday, December 9 and Tuesday, December 10 the sleigh will be in Davies Road.
Thistledown will get a visit from Father Christmas on Thursday, December 12 and then he will visit Bengeworth on Friday, December 13.
Residents in Hampton will be able to see him on Sunday, December 15 and Monday, December 16.
He will be visiting all the good boys and girls of Fairfield on Tuesday, December 17 and Wednesday, December 18.
Santa’s final two destinations in Evesham will be Briar Close on Thursday, December 19 and then Cheltenham Road on Friday, December 20.
Father Christmas will be out and about from 6.30pm on weekdays and 4.30pm on weekends. During this time his volunteer helpers will be collecting donations of cash or via phone for good causes.
Residents are advised to avoid the disappointment of missing Santa, to make their way to a main road or end of their cul-de-sac as a visit down every road cannot be guaranteed.
