Help rehome a dog in need of a quiet life urges Evesham's Dogs Trust

Evesham Editorial 15th Nov, 2024   0

A REHOMING centre for dogs in Evesham is calling for adopters living in rural homes to help animals in its care who would thrive in the countryside.

Dogs Trust Evesham has highlighted two-year-old Border Collie, Percy, as one of many of its dogs looking for a quiet rural home.

Percy was sadly found as a stray, and was quite unwell when he came into Dogs Trust’s care. He needed multiple vet visits and medications to improve his health, so Percy has been waiting a long time for his happy ever after.

He can be a little conflicted at times and prefers a hands-off approach. His ideal home will be with adults and sensible older children, but without other pets. He has been able to go for walks with other dogs, but can find interactions stressful so would prefer to walk in a quiet area where he can keep his distance from other animals.

Percy finds the world a bit stressful and can become anxious, which is why he’d be best suited to a peaceful and relaxing rural home.

Whether home is a country cottage, bungalow, or farmhouse, Dogs Trust Evesham has lots of dogs seeking new owners who live in quiet rural locations.

Dogs Trust aims to find all dogs a loving forever family. Staff carry out thorough behavioural and veterinary assessments and get to know every dog’s likes and dislikes so that each dog can be matched to the right home.

Rural and quiet countryside settings are ideal for dogs who have had an unsettled or neglected past which would lead to them lacking confidence or being uncomfortable around other dogs or lots of noise.

These also include ‘Underdogs’ which is the term given to any dog that has spent more than six months in Dogs Trust care.

Underdogs may have simply been overlooked or may require extra training or ongoing veterinary treatment.

Chris Slight, manager at Dogs Trust Evesham said: “It’s not just humans who want to escape to the country; lots of our fantastic dogs are seeking new homes in rural areas.

“We hope by highlighting some of our amazing dogs looking for the quiet life, we can find them their perfect matches.”
