A POPULAR production of a spooky classic by BAD Theatre (Bretforton Amateur Dramatics) will get an extra date due to a sellout run.

An extra matinee performance of the comedy-thriller The Ghost Train will take place at Bretforton Theatrebarn at 2pm, Saturday November 9 as well as nightly 7.30pm shows starting on Thursday 8.

The play is written by playwright and actor Arnold Ridley, best known to TV audiences as the elderly, bumbling Private Godfrey in Dad’s Army. First produced in 1925, it has remained a firm favourite with theatre audiences ever since.

The plot centres on six passengers who find themselves stranded late at night in the waiting room of an isolated Cornish railway station. Ignoring the ghostly tales and dire warnings of the stationmaster, they decide to stay where they are until morning – with terrifying consequences.

Alice London, chair of BAD Theatre, said: “We are delighted to be adding a matinee to our run of The Ghost Train. With three sold-out shows already, we hope even more people will be able to see our production of one of the greatest stage ghost stories ever written.”

Bretforton Theatrebarn is a hidden gem of a theatre, housed in a magnificent medieval tithe barn with comfortable seating, a raked and heated auditorium, and a bar.
