KINGS, queens and medieval royalty from all over Europe will be dusting off their crowns and getting out their finest attire this week for the greatest regal reunion of the year.
A gathering of the historical great and the good is expected this Saturday, October 19 at All Saints Church for the Evesham Medieval Banquet 2024.
The sell-out event is one of the Battle of Evesham’s three annual fundraising events which raises much-needed cash and awareness for the main battle event in August which this year organisers said brought 40,000 people into the town.
More than 150 carefully costumed guests will be royally amused by five hours of entertainment this weekend which includes jovial japery courtesy of ‘England’s favourite jester’ Devilstick Peter.
There will be live medieval music played by minstrels and dancing damsels to delight the crowds whilst sword fights and jousting from 13th Century reenactors will provide some drama.
To keep in the spirit of the evening lucky visitors will also experience the grandeur of an authentic four-course feast cooked and created by volunteers.
Battle of Evesham director and event organiser, Mick Hurst said that he was humbled to learn that groups of friends travel from all over the UK to meet up and spend an evening along with Evesham townsfolk, all dressed in medieval costume.
He said: ‘It’s a testament to the hard work our volunteers put into the medieval banquet that it sells out months in advance.
“We will be on our feet most of Saturday and well into the early hours of Sunday as there is a service at 8am so we have to make sure everything is cleaned up and tidy by then.
“Hopefully, everyone will have a great time, knowing that it’s all in a good cause.”
