A PERSHORE theatre is encouraging residents to unleash their creativity through a range of upcoming workshops.
Number 8’s programme of events includes a variety of ways to nurture your artistic side, get creative, and meet new people through painting, sketching, dancing and writing workshops.
The theatre is enrolling now for its weekly Chance to Dance classes running throughout the autumn. These exercise-based dance classes are designed for those over 55.
A host of free monthly Sip and Sketch afternoons are also on the schedule for September 12, October 17, and November 14. Keen sketchers or newbies can drop in between 1pm and 4pm to etch a still life and enjoy a cuppa. All sessions are on a Thursday.
Creatives can also try their hand at glass fusing in a free upcoming workshop at 7pm on Tuesday, September 24.
Guided by Carly Mustoe from Worcestershire jewellery company, Glassy Silver, participants will design and create two unique glass coasters.
There will also be a Tamara de Lempicka themed Pop Up Painting workshop at 7pm on Thursday, September 19 and a Vincent Van Gogh workshop at 7pm on Thursday, November 21. Participants can recreate the artists’ iconic styles with support from art tutor Kay Mullet. All materials provided.
And those with an interest in creative writing can partake in the Writing Your Imagination playwriting course led by Steve Wilson from Crave Arts. Over four sessions between October 8 and November 19 participants will go through the process of play writing, including structure, setting, character development, and dialogue. Pieces will be included in an informal writing showcases at 8pm on Thursday, November 28.
The Pop Up Painting, Vincent Van Gogh and Writing Your Imagination workshops are ticketed. Visit www.number8.org or contact the box office on 01386 555488 for more information.
