IN PICTURES - Evesham students celebrate GCSE success

STUDENTS across Evesham have been celebrating their GCSE results today, finally finding out if all their hard work has paid off.

This is the seventh year of GCSE reform since the introduction of the numeric grades – they run from 9 to 1 with 9 being the highest and 4 the grade C equivalent (and pass).

Grade 5 is a good or strong pass, C-B, 6 in a high B grade and 7 to 9 are A to A* in the old system.

Prince Henry High School

The top performer at Prince Henry High was Jackson Carter who notched up an impressive 10 grade 9s.

The other 26 top performers – achieving an outstanding seen or more 7 to 9 grades were: Lauren Bowers, Sophie Bryson, Mauro Burton Lara, Amelie Carr, Jackson Carter, Alice Collett, Jackson Conneally, James Cooper, Faibienne Ellis, Ewan Evans, Leah-May Farnsworth, Sophie George, Grace Godfrey, Daniel Hutt, Aleksandra Kargul, Georgia Leather, Leo-Cameron Lifford, Mark Mitrov, Alisa Preedy, Iris Risdale, Adam Saib, Emilia Seneque, Nell Smith, Lily-Mae Taylor, Lauren Vale and Lily Vaqueiro.




The school said there were many more successes and is pleased – particularly with such a big cohort – that 68 per cent of students achieved five or more GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English and Maths.


A total of 82 per cent of the cohort achieved a Grade 4 in English and 80 per cent achieved the same measure in maths – 74 per cent achieved grade 4s in both English and maths.

A total of 76 per cent of all the grades across all subjects were Grade 4+ and 100 students achieved the English Baccalaureate – 97 per cent achieved five GCSEs with grades 1 to 9.

Headteacher, Dr Tony Evans, Headteacher, said: “I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to the students and their parents/carers and families.

“Our year 11 students have been a delightful and resilient group of young people who thoroughly deserve the exceptional academic success they have achieved.

“Our motto at Prince Henry’s is ‘Great things from small things grow’ and the GCSE achievements this week, coupled with our A-Level results last week, are a testament to this.

“The GCSE and A-Level results, are a tribute to the incredible hard work and dedication of the students, staff, parents/carers and the governing body.

“I am extremely proud of the entire Prince Henry’s community and I offer my sincerest congratulations to everyone concerned.”
