Why green-fingered visitors to a Salford Priors garden will help a top cause

GREEN-FINGERED former plant nursery owners Rob and Diane Cole are looking forward to welcoming a stream of visitors to their Salford Priors garden this weekend.

The newly-created 2021 garden will be at the heart of the event with all gate monies going to support the vital palliative care provided by the National Garden Scheme’s nursing charities.

“Downsizing from three acres to a smaller garden on a new-build development is already showing truly amazing results. It’s at its flowering peak right now!” said Rob who was chair of Plant Heritage in Warwick for many years.

“Our planting database shows that we have about 1,000 plants in the garden, with clematis, penstemon, salvia, echinacea and agapanthus – to name a very few- looking particularly good”.

Around the ‘backbone’ of shrubs are densely-planted flower borders, lawn, alpine scree and nursery areas, a greenhouse, a patio spread with potted plants, sculptures and seating from which to take in the abundant display of blooms.

Visitors will be able to add to their own gardens from Rob and Diane’s plant sale.

Admission to their garden on Priors Crescent in Salford Priors will be available on Saturday (July 16) and Sunday (July 17) from 10am to 4.30pm and is £5 for adults, free for children.
