AN EVENING of steam rail nostalgia will be on offer to mark the 40th anniversary reopening of Honeybourne railway station.
‘Steam Through The Vale and Cotswolds’ will be shown at Honeybourne’s new Village Hall on Saturday (October 23) from 7pm.
The film features footage on both the Cotswold Line between Hereford, Worcester and Oxford and the former Stratford-Honeybourne-Cheltenham Line and other local routes and will be presented by rail archivist, author and presenter Michael Clemens of Pershore.
Honeybourne Station -once an important junction with no less than four signalboxes -was a victim of the Beeching cutbacks closing in 1969 but was reopened in 1981 following a campaign spearheaded by the Cotswold Line Promotion Group.
The film evening has been organised by the Promotion Group with admission on the door at £5. For those travelling by train there are convenient train services to/from Honeybourne from both Worcester and Oxford directions.
