Malvern 82 Evesham 18
Midlands Two West (South)
UNBEATEN Malvern maintained their perfect start to the league campaign after six matches with a commanding victory over Evesham on Saturday.
The depleted Avonsiders were completely overwhelmed in the first half and trailed 49-3 at the break with only a Mike Diston penalty to show for their efforts.
However, the visitors showed plenty of spirit in the second half and scored three tries – one through Fred Hopper and a brace from Will Bugg – and really tested Malvern’s defence as they pushed for a fourth try to secure a bonus point.
It was not to be though and the home side regained the initiative to run out thoroughly convincing winners.
Evesham are scheduled to entertain leaders Nuneaton Old Edwardians on Saturday but, with the grounds several feet under water at the time of writing, the match was in severe jeopardy.
