Time to look at Brexit and beyond - Huddleston

Evesham Editorial 16th Nov, 2019   0

CONSERVATIVE Nigel Huddleston said it was time to ‘get Brexit done’ to put the focus back on funding public services, such as the police, the NHS and schools, as he launched his general election campaign.

Mr Huddleston chose the Droitwich Community Hall for the event last Friday where he said the UK economy had grown by 18 per cent since 2010 and there were more people in work than ever before.

He said: “A top priority of mine since I was first elected in 2015 has been to lobby for more funding for schools in Worcestershire which have been underfunded for decades.

“I’m delighted that every school in Mid Worcestershire will receive more funding, a real terms increase in per pupil funding, and I have thanked the Prime Minister for making school funding one of his own top priorities.”

Mr Huddleston said he would be voting for the Prime Minister’s deal to deliver Brexit if he was re-elected.

“I’ve always been committed to delivering on the referendum result.

“A majority of people here in Mid Worcestershire voted for Brexit and we must respect the result.

“I’m the only candidate in this election who can actually deliver Brexit.

“The Labour Party wants a second referendum because they think the people of Mid Worcestershire got it wrong, and the Liberal Democrats want to revoke Article 50 altogether.”

“It has been a great honour to have served the people of Mid Worcestershire these past four years and I hope to continue to do so after December 12th.”
