‘Broader Vision’ is given a boost

Evesham Editorial 18th Aug, 2019   0

A VITAL charity supporting blind and partially-sighted people has been awarded a large sum from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The £332,000 granted will part-fund a project called ‘Broader Vision’ that will help provide information, advice and support which address challenges faced by people with sight loss.

It will also be used to employ six new sight loss advisors who will work across six districts of Worcestershire.

The advisors will provide support and assistance for people to learn new skills, access services and gain support in order to lead more independent lives.

Jenny Gage, CEO, said: “No-one should face sight loss alone, but sadly there are lots of people who still don’t know about the support that is available. This funding will enable us to reach out to more people.”

Last year, workers spent 1,500 hours supporting on a one-to-one basis.
