PERSHORE Cricket Club under nines were all smiles after winning both matches against Worcester and Rushwick at their first under nines cricket festival of the season on Sunday.

Pershore CC has a thriving junior section with cricket for all age groups. Visit pershore.play-cricket.com for details.

Pershore’s men’s first team were beaten by three wickets at Chaddesley Corbett in the Worcestershire League Premier Division on Saturday.

The Plums won the toss and chose to bat and the highlight of their score of 170-8 off 45 overs was 63 from Liam Ridings.

In reply, the hosts reached 46-0 but that became 137-6 and 155-7 as Pershore maintained hopes of an unlikely victory, but Chaddesley eventually reached their target with ten balls to spare despite two wickets apiece for Stephen Miles and Anees Tariq.

Seventh-placed Pershore host sixth-placed Old Hill on Saturday. The Plums are 36 points behind leaders Redditch after nine games.
