Lots to savour at awards night

BROADWAY Darts League’s finals and presentation night celebrated the achievements of teams and individuals as well as providing the chance to say a fond farewell to league stalwart Tony Burdett.

League secretary Tony, who has been involved with the league for more than 50 years, is standing down.

He said: “Initially I played for the Loungers which was at the New Inn Broadway (now the Horse & Hound). I became chairman when Eddy Styler was secretary and then came Martin Malin, Roger Mills, Dave Cob and Glenda Tomes.

“I took over as secretary from Glenda in 2009 with Ann James. Then Ann retired, so I have been running the darts league ever since but now it is time to go.

“I was very pleased to receive an engraved salver and my wife received flowers from the members of Bretforton Sports Club.”
