Music workshops for those living with dementia coming to Pershore

Evesham Editorial 19th Mar, 2019   0

THERE will be music workshops for people living with dementia next week at the Number 8 Arts Centre in Pershore.

People will be able to play along to African and Samba music with a range of drums and percussion instruments as part of a special Drumming Workshop from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday, March 20.

It will be the last of Wychavon District Council’s workshops for the 2018-19 season but the sessions will start again next month, running until March 2020.

The sessions have been running since 2014 with a variety of music genres represented including Latin American, contemporary, classical and folk.

Jenny Davis, Wychavon’s Arts Development Officer, said: “I’m delighted these workshops and all of our musicians have committed to such an entertaining programme.

“The feedback we’ve been receiving shows the workshops have a very positive impact on people by reducing isolation, getting them involved and helping them to make new friends.”

Admission, which includes a hot drink and biscuits, is £2 per person.

Call 01386 555488 or visit www.number8.org to book places.

Call Jenny Davis on 01386 565396 or email [email protected] for more information on the sessions.
