DJs in the mix with funds grant

Evesham Editorial 5th Feb, 2019   0

WYCHAVON Youth Bus has been awarded £2,000 to fund free DJ tuition classes for local youngsters.

The grant has been funded by the Tesco Community Bags of Help scheme with the proposal for the sessions finishing second in their vote.

Children can book their place in the ‘Mixed up! DJ Skills for young people’ workshop where they will have four lessons to learn how to mix music. The first session took place at Pershore College last week.

Wychavon’s youth bus officer Rob Mace said: “We’re really grateful of the support from Tesco as we can offer something new on the youth bus. Its fantastic that we can help young people learn new skills and get creative with music.”

Students met Lindsay Roach, the Evesham Tesco Community Champion, to receive the cheque for the project.

She said: “Tesco Evesham value the connections with local community groups and charities.

“Bags of Help is a great way to involve the whole community in helping projects in Evesham and the surrounding villages”.

Lucy Rowlett, the sports and social co-ordinator at Pershore College, said: “It is great news for the students as they love the bus and they love music, we can now bring the two together and are getting lots of interest.”
