Inspirational people to be recognised

Evesham Editorial 18th Jan, 2019   0

INSPIRATIONAL people from Evesham and Pershore who have gone above and beyond for their community will be celebrated at an awards ceremony.

The annual Community Recognition Awards recognises community heroes who in 2018 volunteered, coached or helped others and made the district a better place to live and work.

Wychavon District Council’s Community Development team is looking for inspirational stories from people of all ages who have helped to improve their neighbourhood, club, society or community in the past year.

Council chiefs are on the lookout for the young volunteer of the year, the volunteer of the year and the winners of the arts recognition award and sporting hero award.

Community projects will be celebrated with an award while nominations are also being sought for the community group award, the enabling healthy lives honour and the lifetime achievement prizes.

Nominees will be invited to the Community Recognition awards ceremony on Thursday, March 7.

Tracy Grubb, community development officer at Wychavon, said: “It’s brilliant we are doing the Community Recognition Awards again this year. We rely on volunteers to make things happen, so its right that they should be acknowledged for all the time that they have put in to making Wychavon a better place to live and work.”

Visit www.wychavon.gov.uk/recognitionaward for an application form.

All nominations must be submitted by 5pm on February 1.
