Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 9th Dec, 2018   0

THE VILLAGE of Inkberrow is one of the few places in the country, which, by choice, does not have street lighting.

But at this time of the year over one thousand lights on a 52ft high tree in a private garden light up the village.

In 1978 the six ft pine sapling was initially displayed in the living room to celebrate the owners first Christmas in their new home.

After the festivities were over it was planted in the front garden and has steadily grown taller every year since.

Over the last 14 years the owners have raised more than £10,000 for charity by their much-anticipated tradition, which is viewed by hundreds of people each year.

Out of the darkness comes light.

In the Bible we read of many occasions concerning darkness and light.

When he first began his preaching Jesus Christ said, “The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the shadow of death a light has dawned”.

Of course he was referring to himself as ‘The light of the world’ because he came into the world to bring the light of the love of God into the lives of people like us.

He came to show that God wants to give us a life worth living, for Jesus told us ‘to let our light shine before all people that they may see our good deeds and praise our Father in heaven’
