Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 2nd Dec, 2018   0

I READ an article the other day, which claimed the British are the most patient in the world when it comes to waiting in queues etc. But are we really?

Late last Sunday evening I was driving back to Worcestershire from Bedford and I was in the second lane on a four-lane stretch of the M1 motorway, in roadworks with a 50mph limit.

All four lanes were very crowded when suddenly a large articulated lorry appeared so close behind me; it completely blocked the rear view mirror image.

The driver was flashing his lights wanting me to move into a small gap in the inside lane so he could pass me, which was pointless because all the traffic in front me, in all four lanes, was travelling at 50mph.

The lorry eventually moved into the inside lane and proceeded to overtake me on the inside and continued to dodge in and out of traffic in front of me. No patience there and fortunately no damage done either.

There are times when it is hard to be patient but it will always pay off in the end.

In the Bible we read many times about patience and of our need to be patient.

The Psalmist says, “I waited patiently for the Lord: he turned to me and heard my cry”.

As we pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ, his Son, he will hear and answer our prayers, in the best possible way, for ourselves and those around us.
