Evesham Editorial 6th Nov, 2018   0

A STRIKING painting of Simon De Montfort at the Battle of Evesham has taken pride of place at the school named in his honour.

The De Montfort School headteacher Guy Nichols was presented with the artwork by artist and illustrator Eivind Bovor.

The painting depicts Simon de Montfort at The Battle of Evesham, which was fought in 1265 between a number of rebel barons led by Simon de Montfort and the army of King Henry III.

It was part of the exhibitions in the 2015 anniversary event for the Battle of Crown Meadow which attracted thousands of people into Evesham for a packed programme of celebrations.
