SKIPPER Mohammed Fahim Maan and Ali Shan both scored half-centuries to help Evesham secure a 53-run victory in a run-fest against Cookley in Worcestershire League Division One.
Middle-order batsmen Maan hit 66 and Shan 61 as Evesham, who won the toss and batted, scored 293-9 off their 50 overs.
Nasir Mahmood, batting at No 9, kept up the momentum with 45 not out. Michael Wood (2-34) and Danny Soley (2-43) were the pick of the bowlers.
Cookley’s innings began promisingly with Jat Dhandwal hitting 63 and Adam Nicholls scoring 45 not out but their innings subsided to 240 all out.
Adnan Sagheer led the bowling with 3-36, while there were two wickets apiece for Nasir Mehmood, Maan and Muhammad Saqib.
Evesham, who lie third in the table, entertain Worcester on Saturday.
Evesham 2nds eased to an eight-wicket win at home to Old Vigornians in Division Two 2nd XI.
Malim Khan (4-19) and Tahmoor Farooq (3-26) helped dismissed the visitors for 77 in 29.1 overs before an unbeaten 38 from Khan steered Evesham home at 78-2.
Evesham 2nds head to Oldswinford & Stour Social on Saturday.
