GLANCING through this week’s television guide I was amazed at just how many programmes, on all of the channels, were repeats.
But of course on the other hand many of the old programmes are much more entertaining and watchable than their new counterparts, or is that me showing my age?.
Also the ‘oldies’ seem better recorded so the dialogue can be heard and understood, unlike the modern ones where one has to rewind so often to try to hear what is being said.
It is amazing these old programmes seem to hold the audiences just as much today as they did when they were first broadcast.
Good quality programmes of whatever era are always worth watching, even over and over again.
The Bible is often considered to be old and out of date and of no relevance in todays world but the opposite is that the contents telling of God’s love to us through Jesus Christ are really for us now.
There are now many translations available in everyday language that we can readily understand and appropriate into our lives.
Whether we use an old or a new version, the message is still the same, just as it has been over the centuries since Jesus Christ walked upon the earth teaching and preaching about the love of God.
That message, though often repeated, is truly relevant to us today.
