Bags of help on offer for a trio of good causes

Evesham Editorial 28th May, 2018   0

A RALLYING call has gone out to Evesham shoppers to lend their support to local groups after the town’s Tesco store unveiled the latest good causes bidding process.

Three causes are once again in the frame for a share of the £7,000 the supermarket giant has on offer as part of its Bags of Help project which sees money raised from the sale of plastic carrier bags handed over to benefit local groups.

Shoppers will be given a token at the end of their shop and asked to vote for one of three causes which this month are: Honeybourne Harriers Football Club, Madresfield CE Primary School in Malvern and Evesham’s Festival Players.

Volunteers at Honeybourne Harriers are bidding for a share of the cash for more equipment to allow more children in the local area to participate in activities.

School chiefs at Madresfield CE Primary Schoo hope to create a forest school which will help develop confidence, promote motivation and enhance teamwork opportunities for every pupil.

The Festival Players are bidding for a cash boost to help encourage Evesham young people to perform drama for local audiences, increasing skills and confidence and help them entertain the people of Evesham and surrounding villages.

Voting is already under way and finishes on Saturday, June 30.

Lindsay Roach, Tesco’s Community Champion for Evesham, said: “If local groups don’t apply then they won’t give Evesham customers a chance to vote for their group.”

Any local groups who would like to discuss a possible application can e-mail Lindsay at [email protected] for more information.
