A RALLYING call has been made for caring local shoppers to help a Pinvin group bag up to £4,000 from a supermarket scheme.

Pinvin At The Heart for Health and Wellbeing Across the Years or PATTHWAY hope for a massive cash boost from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of up to £4,000, up to £2,000 and £1,000 raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores awarded to local community projects.

Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

An offshoot of Pinvin Community Pre-school, the group are raising funds to provide an outdoor learning base for early years children in Pinvin and the wider community.

Hana Malins from PATTHWAY said: “Funding from Tesco Bags of Help scheme will enable us to provide a unique learning space for our children where they feel safe and can explore the world outside.

“We are a passionate group of practitioners who strive to make a child’s first learning experience fun and engaging.

“An outdoor learning venue will ensure we are inclusive to all families in the area and provide an outdoor space where the children can engage with the natural world.

The ambitious project is part of the pre-school’s quest for an outstanding rating from Government inspectors OfSTED.

Staff at the Main Street venue have already secured a good rating and hope the new offering will help them achieve their aspiration.

Voting is open at Pershore’s Tesco Express store on the High Street and at both Evesham’s superstore on Worcester Road and also the Tesco Express on Cheltenham Road throughout January and February.

Customers can cast their vote using a token given to them at the checkout in store each time they shop.

Tesco’s Bags of Help project has already delivered more than £40million to 9,700 projects up and down the UK.

Tesco customers get the chance to vote for three different groups every time they shop. Every other month, when votes are collected, three groups in each of Tesco’s regions will be awarded funding.
