PERSHORE secured their first win of the season with a comprehensive success against their Herefordshire visitors on Saturday.

Playing at Piddle Park for the first time this term, Pershore scored 12 converted tries in a dominant display to progress into the second round.

The visitors never surrendered and scored three tries at the end of the first half, when Pershore perhaps eased off a bit, and threatened to score throughout.

However, the big difference between the teams was Pershore’s strength, pace and ability to execute and score once the initial break had been made.

The home side used their big runners to draw the opposition in and quick recycled ball from the forwards allowed them to move the ball wide quickly or run through the gaps to score.

Hard work from Martin Hope, Luke Hardiman and Greg Hitchcock in the forwards and Steve Holmes and Josh Hardiman in the backs created the platform for a steady stream of tries.

Ash White, Josh Hardiman, Hitchcock (2), Nick Creswick (2) and Calvin May (2) all contributed to the scoreboard.

Man of the match was Dave Oliver with a personal tally of 44 points which included four tries from half back and a 100 per cent record from 12 with the boot.

Pershore will look to maintain this momentum on Saturday when they host Coventry Welsh in Midlands Four West (South).
