A POPULAR Evesham pub will be closing its doors for three weeks next month for a full refurbishment – the first time its undergone one in 19 years.

Last orders will be called at Wetherspoons’ Old Swanne Inn on the High Street on Monday, September 11 and it won’t re-open again until Thursday, October 5.

The pub will be undergoing a full refurbishment for the first time since it was taken over by Wetherspoons in 1998 in a bid to breathe new life into the popular venue.

This includes a fresh new look for the exterior of building and a new colour scheme inside with new booths, seating, lighting and carpets.

A new log fire will also be installed and the kitchen will be upgraded. From October the pub will become one of only a few Wetherspoon’s to serve pizzas with the installation of new ovens.

The pub is also creating 12 new jobs.

Manager Anthony Donovan said: “The pub has gone as far as it can now with its current design. The staff and customers are all excited about the refurbishment.

“We’re sad the pub has got to close for a few weeks, but it’s got to be done so this refit can be carried out.”
