AN EVESHAM man has been jailed for possessing and distributing indecent images of children and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
Daniel Beechey, 28, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after pleading guilty at Worcester Crown Court last Friday to three counts of possessing indecent images of children, one court of distributing indecent images of children and for breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
His jail terms will run both concurrently and consecutively which includes, 18 months for one count of possessing a category A indecent image of a child, 12 months for one count of possessing a category B indecent image of a child, six months for one count of possessing a category C indecent image of a child and 12 months for distribution of category B and C indecent images of children.
His sentence also includes two years in prison for breaching a sexual harm prevention order by using a software tool to attempt to hide his use of the internet.
Beechey will also be placed on the sex offenders register and will be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Following an investigation by West Mercia Police’s Operation Safenet team, Beechey was arrested and charged on the same day in May following a timely examination of computer equipment to prevent further victimisation of children.
DC Damian Murray from West Mercia Police, said: “A child is victimised not only when they are abused and an image is taken – they are re-victimised every time that image is viewed by someone.
“This case sends a clear message that the internet is not a safe anonymous space for sharing indecent images of children. Those that access such images should know that they can and will be traced and prosecuted.”
