ORGANISERS of the Pershore Plum Festival are on the lookout for their next plum princess and her attendants as the applications for the special honour begins.
Princess hopefuls aged between eight and 11 have the chance to live in a real life fairytale as the prestigious position of being the town’s royal princess becomes vacant.
This year the Plum Princess and her attendants will be chosen at the popular Plum Blossom Sunday event on Sunday, July 2 at The Angel Hotel.
The chosen hopeful will attend numerous events throughout the year including a horse race meeting, bike meet as well as welcoming coach parties to the town.
The princess also has the special task of planting plum trees at her school and the newly created Plum Festival orchard owned by the Vale Heritage Landscape Trust.
Steve Knight, Marketing and Events Officer at Wychavon, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring princess to take up an ambassadorial role.
“The princess and her attendants are well looked after and chaperoned and each year they comment on what fun they’ve had promoting this internationally famous event.”
