'Livid' council chiefs issue warning following increase in fly tipping

Evesham Editorial 18th Jun, 2017   0

‘LIVID’ council chiefs are warning residents against using rogue traders to remove garden waste following a ‘substantial’ increase in fly tipping at a popular woodland near Pershore.

The warning from Wychavon District Council comes following an increased number of reports in the last week of garden waste being dumped around Stoulton Woodland.

Sharon Caswell, Client Services Manager for Wychavon, said: “I’m livid that garden waste has been dumped at this beauty spot. This isn’t the first time this has happened and it took a really long time and a substantial amount of money to clear the site last time this happened.

“Please, please, please do not get people to remove your waste unless they’re a licensed carrying or use our garden waste or bulky service. “Flytipping wouldn’t happen if people were careful about how they disposed of their waste.

“Not only does it look awful, but it costs to clear and you could face a fine or criminal record if you the waste is traced back to you.”
