THE WINTER League final brought an end to the winter season for The Vale Golf Club’s men’s section on Sunday.
Thirty-two teams qualified for the final after playing five rounds during the winter. Teams were made up of two players playing better ball Stableford and play commenced at 9.30am with a shotgun start.
The course was in fantastic condition and, without a breath of wind in the air, players really attacked the course.
This resulted in some stunning scores and the winners Lance Hanna and Jay Brown scored a superb 49 points.
They were followed closely by a number of teams including second placed Gordon Keir and Joe Cornwall (48 points) and third placed Adam Flintham and Ben Hartley (46 points).
After the event the men’s section proudly presented a cheque of £1,819 to Primrose Hospice, which was raised during Steve McCullough’s tenure as men’s captain.
The next competition in the men’s section will see the summer season kick off with the first Strokeplay event of the year played on March 25.
