Be Clear on Cancer roadshow is in Evesham today

A CAMPAIGN which highlights that persistent tummy troubles could be signs of cancer is coming to Evesham’s Riverside Shopping Centre.

The ‘Be Clear on Cancer’ roadshow will be in town today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday) to encourage people who have been suffering from diarrhoea, bloating or discomfort for three weeks or more to go and see their doctor.

Persistent tummy problems can be signs of a number of cancers, including bowl or ovarian cancer, and people suffering from the symptoms are often reluctant to visit their GP because they are embarrassed by their symptoms or are concerned they might be wasting their doctor’s time.

Coun John Smith, cabinet member for Health and Well-being said: “While it’s probably nothing serious, any of these symptoms could be a sign of something that needs treatment. If it is cancer, finding it early makes it more treatable.

“We are supporting this campaign in our area to make sure everyone is aware of the signs and what to do.”
