EVESHAM Vale Triathletes ladies Lindsey Lewis-Painter and Melanie Clarke both won well earned prizes when they competed in their first duathlon of the season.
The Lakeside Launcher, hosted by Pulse Pursuits at the University of Worcester Lakeside Campus, consisted of a 5km cross country run, a testing 25km undulating road bike route and finished with a cheeky 2.5km cross country run.
The race attracted many dual-sport competitors including double Commonwealth Games gold medallist Jodie Stimpson and other athletes who represent Great Britain in their respective age groups.
This is the second year Lewis-Painter has competed in duathlons (her fourth race to date) and she produced a great performance to finish seventh overall in a very competitive field and first in the veteran 40 age category.
Her team-mate Clarke came over the line in eighth place to pick up third place in the veteran 50 age category.
This is a great start to the season for the pair and shows their winter training has paid off.
