Superdrug is leaving the Riverside Shopping Centre

Evesham Editorial 2nd Dec, 2016 Updated: 6th Dec, 2016   0

RETAIL giant Superdrug has confirmed its Evesham store will be relocating from the Riverside Shopping Centre to Bridge Street.

Company bosses said they will be making the move to 13-14 Bridge Street, the former Dorothy Perkins store, on Friday, December 16.

Current staff will be transferring over to the new store, which will offer a Brow and Lash Bar treatments and a wider range of cosmetics.

Superdrug is now the latest retailer to leave the shopping centre. Last year, figures revealed how 51.5 per cent of units were empty at the Riverside.

As the Observer previously reported, Aviva Investors, who acquired the shopping centre from Axa at the end of 2015, vowed to look at rent costs for businesses in order to create a more ‘vibrant retailing’ experience.

They also said they were aware the centre ‘needed some attention’ and were looking at ways of competing with out-of-town shopping destinations.

A spokesman for Superdrug said: “Superdrug can confirm that our store in the Riverside Shopping Centre is relocating to 13-14 Bridge Street and is due to open on 16th December.

“The team will transfer to the new store which will offer a Brow and Lash Bar for on-the-go beauty treatments and a wider selection of cosmetics.

“The new store is conveniently located within walking distance of Evesham train station and we look forward to welcoming customers to our brand new store, just in time for them to pick up their Christmas shopping.”
