EVESHAM United moved into fourth place in Southern League Division One South & West after cruising to a 5-1 victory at Slimbridge on Wednesday.
The Robins fell behind to a second-minute strike from former United striker Lee Smith but roared back to see off their Gloucestershire hosts, who had Ryan Thwaite dismissed 25 minutes from time following a second booking.
Paul Collicutt’s side have now won six league matches in a row – scoring 24 goals in the process – and will head into Saturday’s FA Trophy first qualifying round tie at home to Premier Division Frome Town in buoyant mood.
After falling behind, top scorer Lance Smith soon hauled the visitors level when he lashed home his 14th goal of the season from close range.
Evesham took the lead shortly after the break when Leroy Odiero pounced from a corner to score against his old club.
Paul Fahy was next to score against his old club on the hour mark when he put the finishing touch to a fine move and, when the hosts were then reduced to ten men, the outcome was never in doubt.
Rampant United made sure of the points with further goals from Lorcan Sheehan’s header and a second from the impressive Fahy, leaving Slimbridge mightily relieved to hear the final whistle.
