YOUNGSTERS from a Pershore air cadets group are celebrating after receiving £1,000 of funding from a leading UK housebuilder.

The 233 Squadron Air Training Corps recently received the cash boost to help fund new event equipment by Persimmon Homes South Midlands, as part of its ‘Community Champions’ scheme.

The project is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for £1,000 of funding to match money they have already raised themselves.

Rebecca Pritchett, commanding officer at Pershore’s 233 Squadron Air Cadets unit said: “We’re extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for their generous donation.

“We provide a wide range of activities including flying, gliding, BTECs in aviation studies, camps and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

“We attend numerous public events every year promoting the opportunities and skills individuals can gain if they join us, so our event equipment was in desperate need of an upgrade.”

Carol Selway, sales director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands said: “The 233 Squadron Air Cadets provide exciting opportunities and superb training facilities for youngsters.

“We’ve made it really simple to apply for funding and we’re urging groups and charities to apply for next month’s donation by completing an online form on our website.”
